Erastus Snow: The Life of a Missionary and Pioneer for the Early Mormon Church
Salt Lake City: University of Utah Press, 1971. First edition. Cloth. 814pp. Half faux leather over pictorial cloth boards. No title on spine.
For someone as important as he was in his generation, apostle Erastus Snow is relatively unknown today. Called as one of four new apostles in 1849, Snow would be a member of the Quorum of the Twelve for nearly forty years. Over those decades, he helped open the Scandinavian Mission, edited the St. Louis Luminary and even served in the Utah Territorial Legislature. Much of his later life was spent overseeing church affairs in Southern Utah-Snow College was later named in his honor (along with distant cousin and colleague Lorenzo Snow). This biography-funded by the family association-draws on early diaries, extensive correspondence and contemporary records (like Annals of the Southern Mission) to narrate his lengthy life, with numerous excerpts included. Condition: Very good. Item #863
