Though it would seem a little ironic just a few years later (when he was denied his seat in Congress), B. H. Roberts noted in 1895 that "prejudice has somewhat subsided." He felt the climate was right for thoughtful, believing Mormons to step up and "give correct information about themselves and their religion." While he had certainly put forth a lot of effort in that vein already, he was ready for another round. While he originally intended to write about the Book of Mormon he opted to address Joseph Smith first. Then, after a few years, he came back to his Book of Mormon materials and polished them up into a book-length treatment and it was adopted as curriculum. Preceding the book was a section with outlines for twenty lessons based on Roberts's work. This material would eventually be published as a regular book in 1909 after "a thorough revision at the hands of the author." A very nice presentation of this version. Condition: Very good+.
