Douglas Todd was right at the center of the often-confusing post-Manifesto Mormon landscape. He married a plural wife, Hannah McMurray, in 1899 (ceremony performed by Matthias Cowley) and his younger sister, Nellie, married John W. Taylor as a plural wife. In these diary excerpts, Todd relates intriguing details-presumably learned from his sister-about John Taylor's 1886 revelation and its role in the eventual development of Mormon fundamentalism.
