Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3; Sermons and Writings of Joseph Fielding Smith
Salt Lake City: Bookcraft. Hardcover. 381 pp. Vol. 3 - inscribed by Garden Park Ward bishopric that includes Hoyt Brewster (father of author), now church president Russell M. Nelson. First 30 pages have scattered underlining; moisture staining and rippling inside rear cover and to the bottom edge of the last 100 pages or so.
While it's become less common, church organizations (Relief Society, YWMMIA/YMMIA, etc) used to regularly give books to people with inscriptions inside. As a result, it is always fun to see if there are recognizable names. This copy of Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3 was particularly noteworthy because the bishop was Hoyt Brewster (father of author Hoyt Brewster Jr.) with future church president Russell M. Nelson as counselor. The Garden Park ward was a veritable who's who of church leaders-ward members included Joseph Fielding Smith, Hugh B. Brown, Sterling W. Sill (previous bishop) and Bruce R. McConkie. Condition: Very good. Item #37676
