Selections from the Journals of James E. Talmage
Provo: Ogden Family Trust, 2019. Paperback. 223pp. Inscribed inside by the compiler, D. Kelly Ogden.
With the possible exception of B. H. Roberts, James E. Talmage was the most important author of his generation. Even today, the impact of Jesus the Christ is still outsized for a book published more than a century ago.
Given his prolific pen, it is not surprising that he kept voluminous journals, even after his call as an apostle in 1911. Longtime BYU professor Kelly Ogden spent half a year reading all five thousand pages of them. In this compilation, Ogden provides a brief life sketch, eleven chapters of excerpts and one chapter of miscellaneous notes. He provides brief commentary and also intersperses a few photographs. Only the second copy we have ever seen. Condition: Very good+. Item #35429
