The Myth Makers
Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1961. Second printing. Hardcover/dust jacket. 293pp. Minor wear to dust jacket.
Adding to his folklorish image, Hugh Nibley was well known for offbeat inscriptions in books. This one is no exception: "Best wishes to Bro. [Senke/Senske?] from Hugh Nibley (how original can you get?)." The quirkiness extended into the text. Myth Makers is presented as an imagined court case with the witnesses-E.D. Howe and John C. Bennett standing side-by-side-being led through the testimony by a chairman. This was, of course, not Nibley's first examination of "the old libels"-his first Mormon publication was No Ma'am, That's Not History.
A characteristically fun copy of an inscribed Nibley book. Condition: Very good. Item #29802
Price: $75.00
