In his pre-apostle years, Talmage was a well-respected scientist. His lecture were equally likely to focus on geology as theology. This book originated in a series of lectures and articles Talmage produced. The "tiny book" experienced a lightning-quick production. Talmage signed the contract with Deseret News Press on June 23 and it was released on July 19. Described as "handsomely printed on thick paper, and bound with Princess embossed covers," it was priced at just "25 cents to insure as wide a circulation as possible." Issued only in wraps, copies were occasionally bound in cloth later, like this example. Though the print run was a healthy 5000 copies (half of which were pre-ordered), this is just the third copy we have seen. Condition: Very good. Item #27493
