This volume includes scans of every page of a copy of the Book of Commandments as well as the proposed sixth gathering that was never completed--also included are selected pages from Oliver Cowdery's copy with his editing marks. Additionally, scans of every page of a copy of the 1835 D&C as well as selected scans from the 1844 D&C are featured. Finally, twenty-six transcripts of full/partial revelations are printed in two columns: the original publication in The Evening and the Morning Star and the edited versions from the reprint Evening and Morning Star. Each text is accompanied by a source note and historical introduction. General introductory material gives a historical overview of the reception and publication of the revelations during Joseph Smith's lifetime as well as the editorial methods used.
