The Family and Church History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in cooperation with Brigham Young University Press, is pleased to present this selection of important historical documents from the first century of the Church's history. The hundreds of thousands of images in this set have been drawn from just a few of the many collections housed in the Church Archives. Included are substantial selections from the personal papers of Church presidents, including Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, Lorenzo Snow, and Joseph F. Smith, as well as those of other general Church leaders, among them Willard Richards, George A. Smith, Orson Pratt, Armasa M. Lyman, Charles C. Rich, Franklin D. Richards, Erastus Snow, and J. Golden Kimball.
This set also contains records compiled by the Church Historian's Office, including the sixty nine volumes of the History of the Church (often called the Manuscript History); six hundred thirty-four volumes of the Journal History (1830-1923); thirty-six volumes of the Historian's Office Journal (1844-1879); hundreds of meeting records in the General Church Minutes Collection; and the many documents in the Revelations Collection, which contains both canonized texts and other materials.
Finally, this set includes detailed architectural drawings of the Nauvoo and Salt Lake Temples and the following local Church records: teachers quorum minutes and high council minutes from Kirtland, Ohio, stake court records and Relief Society minutes from Nauvoo, Illinois, high priests quorum minutes, high council minutes, Church court records, and correspondence from the temporary Latter-day Saint settlements on the Missouri River, and James G. Bleak's annals of the Southern Utah Mission of pioneer -era Utah.
