Key to the Science of Theology
Salt Lake City: Deseret News Steam Printing Establishment, 1874. Third edition. Cloth. xv, 178 pp. Flake-Draper 6587. Wear to extremities; minor chipping to cloth at head of spine; name inside front cover; a few scattered pages with underlining or notes.
Long before Charles Penrose revised it, this early edition of Parley Pratt's classic still includes discussions of polygamy and the author's fascinating ideas regarding the Spirit as being something akin to an electrical "fluid." Along with his other book-length work, A Voice of Warning, Key to Theology was one of the most influential books of the nineteenth century. This third edition was retypeset with slightly larger font and increasing the page count. While not quite as scarce as the elusive second edition, we have still seen less than ten copies of this edition ever. Condition: Very good. Item #10074
