Truth Seeking: The Story of High-Ranking Mormon Leader Hans Mattsson Seeking Sincere Answers From His Church but Instead Finding Contempt, Fear, Doubt ...and Eventually Peace

Andersson & Isacson, AB, 2018. Print-on-demand. Paperback. 228 pp. From the intro: "This book is collaboration between Hans and Birgitta Mattsson and Christina Hanke. Our life experiences have been similar, making this collaboration possible. We talked for hours and hours, and from these discussions the book has emerged.

We chose a third person narrative, since we consider our collective account to be an example of how a controlling religion can shape a life, a mind, and how hard and costly it is to be free.

Hans Mattsson is a third generation Mormon. He has held many callings within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church).

He became one of the highest leaders of the Church in Europe, also the highest ranking leader in modern times who has publicly spoken about his doubts and subsequently left the church. We chose to let Hans' life carry the main narrative due to his past positions in the organization.

He is married to Birgitta who joined the Church at the age of 17.

Christina Hanke also converted at age 17. Birgitta and Christina have held many leadership callings in their local church community.

Both Hans and Christina served as missionaries for the Church in England in the early 1970s.

The two families have known each other for many years. It is our hope that these shared experiences will be useful in the study of the psychology and sociology of religion. We also hope that it will bridge the gap of misunderstanding among our friends who are still Latter-day Saints and will provide interesting information to other parties. Most of all, we anticipate that our words will bring comfort and clarity to those embarking on a similar journey into a new and authentic way of life." Condition: Near fine. Item #37822
