Life of Charles F. Zitting/Diary of Charles F. Zitting, 2 vols.

Hardcover. 8.5 x 11". Two volumes. Photocopy of original notebooks, bound in red buckram, title in gilt on cover/spine. Charles F. Zitting (1894-1954) was an early associate of key individuals in the fundamentalist Mormon movement such as John W. and Lorin C. Woolley, John Y. Barlow, Joseph W. Musser and Leroy S. Johnson. When a rift developed in the community, two groups emerged--one (following Joseph W. Musser) evolved into the Apostolic United Brethren, the other (following Charles Zitting) became the FLDS. Joseph Musser died in 1954--Zitting also succumbed to death a few months later, opening the way for Leroy Johnson to take control of the Short Creek group.

LIfe of Charles F. Zitting is a 440-page handwritten manuscript composed by Zitting toward the end of his life.

Diary of Charles F. Zitting consists of two handwritten notebooks in which Zitting kept a diary during his prison term for polygamy (1945-48). New. Item #30245
